Rohan Dandavati is a seventh-grade world traveler — a fact that may give him an edge next month at the state geography bee. Dandavati, who won the geography bee at Black River Public School back in January, learned this week that he had scored high enough on a written test to be one of 100 competitors to compete in the state geography bee at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo on April 9.
Orono Middle School eighth-grader Samuel James won the school's Geography Bee and is now eligible to advance to state competition. Samuel and other school champions will now take a written exam, with up to the top 100 scorers competing at the state level on April 9.
CROWN POINT | Kyle Kirk, an eighth-grader from St. Mary CatholicCommunity School, qualified to compete at the state level of theNational Geographic Bee. Kirk won his school geography bee inJanuary and qualifed for the state finals by earning a high scoreon the state level exam.

Thomas McGrath, a seventh-grader at Immaculate Heart of Mary, has been notified by the National Geographic Society that he is one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2010 Kentucky Geographic Bee.
